The '73rd Kitami Bonchi Festival' held in Kitami, Hokkaido. Held annually in the third week of July, the two-day festival features a diverse program including a 'Dance Parade' where citizens stroll through the city center in yukata, and the 'Tonden O-tsunahiki' giant tug-of-war with a 200-meter rope pulled by young men in fundoshi loincloths. The festival's finale, the Summer Evening Fireworks Display, launches 4,000 shells that colorfully illuminate the night sky.
