The Lake Onuma Water Festival fireworks take place at the open plaza of Onuma Park, Nanae Town, Hokkaido, on July 26, 2026 — the second and final day of a festival whose origins go back to a memorial service held in 1906. After the traditional memorial ceremony and lantern floating, about 2,000 fireworks launch between 20:00 and 20:40, coloring the lakeside night. Day one (July 25) brings kids' Yosakoi dancing, hero shows and the World Karaoke Championship, while day two adds concert-band performances and a magic show. Onuma Koen Station is a five-minute walk from the venue; by car it is about 15 minutes from the Do-o Expressway Onuma Koen IC. Walking trails inside the park are closed from the afternoon on the day of the fireworks, so plan any stroll accordingly. Paid viewing seats are available, and the special parking lot (about 1,000 spaces) costs 500 yen per car.
