The "Tokachi Port Marine Fireworks Display," held in Hiroo Town, Hokkaido, is the only summer fireworks festival in the Tokachi region staged at a port, cherished as a seasonal tradition rooted in the community. Approximately 7,000 fireworks are launched one after another into the night sky, with the colorful lights reflecting on the sea creating a magical landscape. The display is particularly characterized by marine-specific effects such as Chinese fireworks and underwater fireworks. During the day, a Port Bazaar opens with numerous food stalls enlivening the festival. In addition to classic festival fare like yakitori, shaved ice, and draft beer, visitors can enjoy fresh seafood unique to Hiroo Town, such as grilled hokke (Atka mackerel) and whelk grilled right on the spot. It's a full day of enjoying not just the fireworks but also the food and events that celebrate the bustling port atmosphere.
