Lake Towada Water Festival

Summary

2026 marks a special commemorative year — the 90th anniversary of the Towada-Hakkōda area being designated as a national park. At the fireworks festival, a simultaneous release of wish-filled balloon lanterns creates a fantastical nightscape. In addition to message fireworks, an approximately 5-minute lake fireworks display is launched for the finale. There is also a night cruise (reservation required) that allows viewing the fireworks from the lake.
