The Maesawa Summer Festival in Oshu City, Iwate, has traditionally been held on the final day of Obon, August 16, but in 2026 it will take place on the preceding day, August 15. The fireworks display concludes the festival, coloring the night sky and energizing the venue. Starting around 19:30, approximately 3,000 shells including Star Mines beautifully illuminate the night sky. The festival also features dance performances by the Yakudoshi group and numerous stalls by various local organizations.
