A summer tradition held in Odate City, Akita Prefecture, the hometown of the loyal dog Hachiko. As the sun begins to set, food stalls line the venue and stage events begin. At night, a fireworks display is held along the Nagaki River flowing through the city. A giant '大' (Dai) character, one of the largest in Japan, blazes on Mount Hōō, measuring 120 meters in the first stroke, 180 meters in the second, and 150 meters in the third.
