Nikaho's fireworks fill the summer night over Kisakata Beach in Akita on August 22, with about 4,000 shells launched for one hour from 19:30. Viewing is entirely free and remarkably close — the launch pontoons sit just off the sand, so the bursts open almost overhead. From 17:00 to 21:30, food trucks and stalls serve local flavors along the beach, and Kisakata Station is a 10-minute walk away.

The beach itself becomes the grandstand for this open-air display. With the launch point close to shore, the sound reaches you as a physical pulse and the shells open wide overhead, their light spilling across the sea. The full hour runs from 19:30 to 20:30 with no paid seating at all. Arrive on the sand 30–45 minutes early for the best front-row stretch, bring a jacket against the night sea breeze, and note that there is no parking — the walk from JR Kisakata Station is the standard route.
