Overview
The Akagawa riverbanks stage one of the region's biggest shows: some 12,000 fireworks across a launch front stretching up to 700 meters, before about 40,000 visitors. The night doubles as the National Design Fireworks Competition, where leading pyrotechnic houses present their signature pieces. The venue is a 30-minute walk from Tsuruoka Station, with special trains and buses announced on the official site. Paid seats are available (buy in advance) and ticket holders get access to a 4,000-space temporary car park. Riverside spots fill early — arrive about an hour before the start.
