Summary

Asakawa Fireworks is a memorial fireworks display held annually on August 16 during the Obon season. Dating back to the Edo period, it is said to be the oldest fireworks display in Fukushima. The main attractions are the 'dai-karakuri' (large mechanical displays) and 'jiraibi' (ground mines). A memorial fireworks display for the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake is also held.
