Summary

The Gion Festival of Yakumo Shrine and Mitake Shrine held over two days in Motegi Town, Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture. During the festival, portable shrines and floats parade through the town. Some of the floats were manufactured in the mid-1800s, featuring openwork carvings of dragons and phoenixes, and are designated as cultural properties of Motegi Town. On the first day, approximately 5,000 shells are launched from 7:30 PM, brilliantly coloring the night sky of Motegi. The launch site is Shiroyama Park, and the fireworks launched from the mountain are easily visible from the entire town. Festival food can be enjoyed at the stalls, creating summer memories with family and friends.
