A community-rooted festival held in Mibu Town, Shimotsuga District, Tochigi Prefecture, drawing approx. 30,000 visitors each year. From 6:30 PM, Mibu Town's famous "Kanpyo Ondo" — a traditional dance themed around kanpyo (dried gourd shavings), a local specialty — is performed. With calls and lively rhythms, anyone can easily join the dance, and the venue comes alive with the crowd united as one. From 8:00 PM, you can lie on the grass and enjoy approx. 2,000 shells launched overhead. In case of rain, the event is postponed to the 23rd (Sun); if the postponed date is also rainy, only the fireworks will be held from 7:00 PM. *Kanpyo Ondo will not be rescheduled.
