Overview
The 72 hand cannons form the heart of the evening, running 7:30–8:30 pm before an audience of roughly 30,000. The technique, in which bearers hold the tube as a pillar of fire erupts upward, is said to have been brought from the Mikawa region, the ancestral home of the Sakakibara clan who ruled Tatebayashi. Tatebayashi Station is a 15-minute walk away and 500 free parking spaces are provided. As the event is cancelled in stormy weather, check the official site on the day.
