The Isobe Onsen Festival Fireworks is a historic event that has been held for over half a century in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture, boasting the highest number of fireworks displays in the prefecture. On the first day of the two-day festival, approx. 2,000 shells are launched from the Usui River riverbed, beautifully illuminating the hot spring town. The opposite side of the launch site is a cliff, creating powerful acoustic effects as the fireworks sounds echo. Another attraction is the food stalls lined up at Isobe Park, where visitors can enjoy festival cuisine. On the 16th, a floating lantern ceremony and set-piece fireworks (from 8:00 PM) are also held. In case of severe weather, the event will be postponed to Monday, August 17.
