Summary

Meiwa's town festival fills the Furusato no Hiroba park on September 12 with stage shows and bon dancing, then hands the night to 30 minutes of fireworks from 20:00 — 5,130 shells by local maker Marugo, whose competition record includes Prime Minister's Prizes at the Tsuchiura and Omagari championships. The compact grounds put you unusually close to the action, a physical experience big-city festivals dilute with distance.

Overview

The park is a 15-minute walk from Kawamata Station on the Tobu Isesaki Line, with a free shuttle planned from the station's east exit. If storms threaten, only the fireworks move — to September 19, 19:30-20:00 — with the decision posted on the town website around 9:00 that morning. The relaxed-spacing paid seats have sold out. The festival itself opens at 16:15 with giveaways for the first 300 arrivals and children's displays before the 20:00 launch. At 18:01 the whole crowd joins the Shin-Meiwa Ondo bon dance in front of the stage, and children's firework drawings go on display through the day, keeping families busy until the 20:00 launch. Temporary parking is limited, and the town asks visitors to come by train.
