Summary

A resident-run, community-made fireworks festival at Soka Park in Soka City, Saitama, on August 1, 2026. Around 5,000 shells are scheduled, with starmine and message fireworks in the program. Launch sites sit close to the viewing area, so the sound hits as close as the light.

Overview

The 16th Soka Citizens' Fireworks Festival takes place around Soka Park in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture on August 1, 2026. Volunteers from the local community run the event, which lifts off about 5,000 shells including starmine sequences and fireworks carrying written messages. Because the viewing area and launch sites are near each other, the concussive sound is part of the experience. Buses run from Dokkyo-daigakumae (Soka-Matsubara) or Shinden stations to the Sogo Ground stop; it is also about 30 minutes on foot from JR Koshigaya-Laketown Station. There is no parking, and the park's lawn areas fill early.

Info for International Visitors

Best arrival time

Arriving about an hour before the start usually gets you a viewing spot, though entrances get busy and the park's lawn areas fill early. There is no parking, so come by bus or train — and check the official site for the exact start time.

Best viewing spots

The launch sites sit close to the viewing area around the Sogo Ground (general athletic field), so the sound arrives almost together with the light.

With kids

As crowds build through the evening, children can get separated easily — agree on a meeting point beforehand and keep them within sight.

Photography tips

Photography is allowed, but be considerate with tripods in crowded areas. The launch sites are close by, so it helps to pick your framing spot while there is still light.

Payment

Admission and viewing are free, and this event has no food stalls. Many shops nearby take cash only, so having some bills and coins on hand is handy.
