The 'Nagatoro Funadama Festival' held in Nagatoro, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture, is a popular festival that attracts approximately 70,000 visitors annually as a summer tradition of the Chichibu Road. It originated from boatmen offering prayers to the water deity for safety on the river. During the festival, from 5:10 PM, Chichibu float festival music is performed from lantern-lit boats, and from 6:20 PM, lanterns are floated down the Arakawa River, creating a fantastical scene of various lights crossing the water. Fireworks begin at 7:15 PM, featuring set-piece fireworks, Niagara falls, and approximately 3,000 shells.
