Summary

The Chiba Citizens' Fireworks Festival, a beloved summer tradition of Chiba City, returns in 2026. This year, commemorating the 900th anniversary of Chiba's founding, the festival will launch approximately 24,000 shells—the largest domestic-scale display in the event's history—under the theme "Fireworks Pioneering the Future: Love & Peace." Combining powerful offshore fireworks unique to Waterfront Makuhari with traditional large shells and the latest creative fireworks, all synchronized to music, this is one of the Tokyo metropolitan area's premier fireworks shows. The popular event draws approximately 300,000 visitors annually, with the night sky and sea surface brilliantly illuminated over the course of one hour.
