The Suigo Omigawa Fireworks Festival, held in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, is a traditional summer spectacle with one of the most distinguished histories in the Kanto region, known as a prestigious event that has continued since 1908 (Meiji 41). The stage is the majestic Tone River, and the dynamic displays that take advantage of the expansive river surface are a major attraction. The fireworks illuminating the night sky are presented in a four-act structure, with star mines of different themes bursting one after another. Especially impressive is the ultra-large star mine that makes maximum use of the Tone River's space, captivating the audience with an immersive intensity that seems to envelop them. In 2026, commemorating the 20th anniversary of Katori City's merger, the festival will be scaled up from previous years, with a grand launch of 10,000 shells planned.
