Summary

Iwai Beach in Minamiboso, Chiba hosts the finale fireworks of the Iwai BEACH Fes. on August 5. About 1,200 shells, centered on star mines, rise over the evening sea from a launch point a mere 140 meters from the viewing area — close enough to feel the thump with the sound of the waves. The beach program starts at 16:00 with a row of food trucks, and JR Iwai Station is a 10-minute walk; the free lot is limited, so public transport is worth considering.

Overview

The gentle shore of Iwai starts its day in the glow of the setting sun, with beach events and food trucks from 16:00. The finale belongs to the sky: roughly 1,200 shells, mostly star mines, launch close to shore so that the sound arrives as a physical wave over the water. Viewing is free, and the front of the beach fills earliest — arrive 30–45 minutes ahead if you want the immersive close-range stretch. The free parking is limited in number, so the 10-minute walk from JR Iwai Station or an early arrival by car are the sensible plans.

Info for International Visitors

Best arrival time

Plan to be in the beach viewing area 30–45 minutes before the start. The front zone, closest to the launch point, fills first — grab your spot early. The free lot has limited spaces, so the 10-minute walk from JR Iwai Station is a solid alternative.

Best viewing spots

With the launch point just 140 meters from the viewing area, the closer to the front of the beach, the more the star mines seem to rush at you. The food-truck row is also a good place to settle in and watch the evening sea.

With kids

The event is on a swimming beach, so an adult should accompany children playing near the water. After dark it is hard to see the ground, so a flashlight and bright clothing help.

Photography tips

Use the 140-meter closeness: a wide angle catches the star mines filling sea and sky. An early shot against the setting sun is pure Iwai. Anchor tripods firmly in the sand.

Payment

Viewing is free. Food trucks generally take cash, so bring coins. The free lot has limited spaces.
