Summary

Yassa Toganematsuri brings the Togane summer to life on Saturday, August 8, 2026, around Togane Chuo Park and its adjoining streets. The 'Yassa Odori' dance — performed to the rousing 'yassa yassa' call — anchors the day, with stage performances and stalls adding to the festivities; about 6,800 visitors attended in fiscal 2025. The finale sends roughly 250 fireworks into the sky for 20 minutes from 20:10, and the venue is only a five-minute walk from JR Togane Station.

Overview

Centered on Togane Chuo Park in downtown Togane, Chiba, this summer festival is built around the 'Yassa Odori', danced by local groups to the 'yassa yassa' call. Stage performances and rows of stalls keep families entertained from late afternoon onward. As the finale, about 250 shells rise between 20:10 and 20:30, closing the day's dancing with light over the park. JR Togane Station is a five-minute walk away, which makes arriving by train pleasantly simple. Drivers can use 200 free spaces at the park, though public transport is officially recommended given the congestion around the festival.

Best arrival time

The fireworks are due to start at 20:10. Arriving 30–45 minutes beforehand makes it easier to secure a good spot in the park or along the surrounding streets. The festival gets lively from the early evening, so come earlier still if you want to enjoy the dances and stage shows as well.

With kids

With dance processions, stage shows and food stalls, the festival offers plenty for children. The viewing area spreads across the park and nearby streets — follow traffic controls and staff guidance when watching from the road, and keep children within sight.

Photography tips

A smartphone captures the display well enough. Inside the park shooting is fairly easy, but avoid tripods on the roads and in crowds, and photograph from positions that don't block foot traffic.

Payment

Viewing is free. Food stalls generally take cash, so having coins on hand helps. The park offers 200 free parking spaces, though public transport is the recommended way to reach the venue.
