A historic summer tradition that marks the 79th edition, this fireworks festival caps off the second day of the Kisarazu Port Festival, which began in 1948. Started in Kisarazu — a city that has flourished as a port town since ancient times — to honor the spirits of the pioneers who laid the foundations of the region's prosperity through harbor construction and other works, it is now cherished as one of the city's largest events. Held annually in mid-August, approximately 14,000 shells illuminate the night sky over the inner harbor of Kisarazu Port. The day before, the 'Yassai Mossai Dance Festival' unfolds along Fujimi-dori, making for two days in which the entire city is enveloped in a festive mood. As dusk falls, large blossoms open one after another, and the port's symbol, the Nakanoshima Bridge, emerges in the glow of light — a scene rich with atmosphere that can only be experienced here.
