From Sobu-line Iioka Station, the city's community bus runs about 10 minutes to Hagisono, a 5-minute walk from the beach; drivers coming via the Sosa IC need about 30 minutes but will hit event-day road closures. The beach itself, selected among Japan's 100 Great Shorelines, is closed to vehicles—every legitimate parking space is paid, advance-reservation only, with sales opening in early September and nothing sold on the day, and no free lots at all. The festival grounds open around midday with bazaars until 15:00, then fireworks from 19:15 to 20:00 before crowds that historically approach 98,000. Stormy weather cancels, with no reserve date. From the sand, the low viewing angle makes even mid-size shells feel enormous—most spectators spread a ground sheet rather than chairs, since sightlines sit nearly level with the launches, and the night stalls behind the beach handle dinner.
