Summary

Chofu has a long history of fireworks, with the first event held in 1933 (Showa 8). After a temporary suspension during the Pacific War, the postwar revival came quickly, and from 1954 (Showa 29), it was held 14 times as the All Japan Export Promotion Fireworks Competition. Its beauty and splendor have earned it a reputation as one of the nation's finest fireworks displays. In 2026, to splendidly mark the opening of a new chapter in Chofu Fireworks history, the event will feature the beloved traditional Chofu Fireworks specialty 'Hanabi-llusion,' the spectacular '50-Round Large Shell Salvo,' high-quality fireworks artistry 'Takumi no Hanabi-dama,' as well as large star mines with up to Size 8 shells, totaling approximately 10,000 shells.
