The Tokyo Bay Great Fireworks Festival - born 1988, dormant since 2015 - returns after 11 years to mark the 80th anniversaries of Chuo and Minato wards. About 12,000 shells launch from offshore Harumi Pier starting 17:30 on October 24. This revival is fully ticketed: 6 viewing areas and 21 venues, from Harumi Futo Park to Odaiba Kaihin Park, priced 5,000-10,000 yen, with no sidewalk viewing and no same-day sales.

Overview

The long pause stemmed from Olympic and Paralympic athlete-village construction that tied up the Harumi waterfront; with the district rebuilt, the bay can again serve as one vast viewing zone. The 17:30 start - daylight fading rather than full night - is another change from pre-hiatus editions. Crucially, attendance without a ticket is expressly impossible: each area has its own nearest station (Toyosu Park is 3 minutes from Toyosu Station; Ariake waterfront is 10 from Shijo-Toyosu on the Yurikamome), so choose the seat before planning the route. General first-come sales opened September 9 at 10:00, and priority/discounted allocations exist for residents of Chuo, Minato and part of Koto. Stormy weather cancels. Traffic controls blanket the surroundings on the day, so sort out transport well in advance.
