The Sagamiko Lake Festival Fireworks light up Lake Sagami in Midori Ward, Sagamihara City on August 1, a show with roots in 1948. Between 7:30 and 8:40 pm, about 70 minutes in all, roughly 4,000 shells rise over the lake — star mines, 2.5-sun shells, shakudama and No. 8 shells — spreading across the sky with the wide lake as their backdrop, in front of a crowd of about 50,000. Alongside the fireworks, the lake hosts festival events such as the Sagamiko-bayashi music. JR Sagamiko Station is a 10-minute walk. Five paid lots (2,000 yen per entry, 758 spaces total) sit nearby, but traffic restrictions apply around the venue from 5 to 10 pm, so drivers should arrive early and check the restricted routes.
