Summary

Overview
The Ashigara Fireworks, hosted jointly by Matsuda and Kaisei towns, take place on August 22 over the Sakawa River. Between 8:00 and 8:30 pm, 1,300 shells rise from points near the Sakawacho Riverside Plaza and the Kaisei Waterfront Sports Park; the event draws about 55,000 spectators. Both towns run festivals the same day: the Kaisei Noryo Festival in Kaisei and the Matsuda Tourism Festival in Matsuda, the latter with stage events, a bon-odori contest and lines of stalls. The finale pairs the traditional Hyappyabi fireworks with the main display. The venue is a 10-minute walk from JR Matsuda or Odakyu Shin-Matsuda Station, and with no parking, arriving by train is the assumption.
