74th Shonan Hiratsuka Fireworks Festival - Launch of approximately 3,000 fireworks is planned
The 74th Shonan Hiratsuka Hanabi Taikai fires from the Tamasaburo fishing port (new port) in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa, on August 28, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. About 3,000 shells center on the star mines the event is known for, closing with a music-synced star-mine finale for a crowd of around 85,000. Paid seating and food stalls are available. From Hiratsuka Station's south exit, buses reach the Suka-minato stop (5-minute walk), with extra shuttle buses charging 230 yen for adults and 120 for children. There is no parking near the venue; the free riverside lot by the velodrome (5:00–9:30 pm) sits 20 minutes away on foot.
A working fishing port makes an unusual launch pad: bursts go up over harbor water, and the finale's music star mine syncs the sky to the soundtrack. Plan the trip around the shuttle options — temporary buses from the station south exit cost 230 yen (adults), and the free velodrome-side lot means a 20-minute walk either way. Because the venue is open harbor water, smoke drifts with the wind, so a position upwind of the launch area pays off. Food stalls cover dinner, and paid seating can be bought in advance for a guaranteed view.
