One of the largest fireworks festivals in the Joetsu area of Niigata Prefecture, energizing the Joetsu Festival. In the latter half of the Joetsu Festival, the main venue moves from the Takada area to the Naoetsu area, and it is also called the 'Naoetsu Gion Festival.' As the mikoshi that have paraded through the castle town of Takada begin to descend the Seki River toward Naoetsu, the fireworks festival begins around the Arakawa Bridge area. Approximately 5,000 shells are launched, with shakudama (large shells) and starmines reflecting brilliant light on the river surface, exciting the crowd. Additionally, along the riverside, neighborhood floats and Gion mikoshi illuminated by countless lanterns create a magical atmosphere.
