Overview
One of the Fuji Five Lakes, Motosu keeps a serene surface cradled by mountains on three sides. As night falls, spectators spread along the eastern shore and the festival's stalls add a festive touch to the lakeside. Fireworks run from 7:30 p.m. for 30 minutes — 1,000 shells whose thunder bounces between the ridgelines, a sensation unique to a mountain-ringed basin. From Fujikyu Kawaguchiko Station, take the Motosuko bus for about 50 minutes (2-minute walk from the Motosuko stop), or drive about 30 minutes from Kawaguchiko IC. Free parking for 300 cars is available.
