The 59th Okaya Fireworks Festival

Summary

Held every summer at Okaya Lakeside Park in Okaya City, Nagano Prefecture, this festival offers a collaboration of fireworks and sky lanterns. Fireworks launched from the lake reflect beautifully on the water, creating a stunning spectacle. A sky lantern release event is also held, and anyone can participate by registering in advance. Participants can write their wishes on lanterns and release them, enjoying a magical sight. Sky lanterns were introduced in place of the previous floating lanterns, from the perspective of environmental protection. This initiative is also drawing attention as part of efforts to raise local environmental awareness.
