Summary

A fireworks competition that was revived in 2025 after a 6-year hiatus, renamed the 'National New Fireworks Challenge Cup.' The format was also renewed as a decentralized tournament. 20 pyrotechnicians selected from across the country will compete in 4 preliminary rounds in September, and the winner of each round plus the top scorer among the second-place finishers — 5 in total — will advance to the final in October. Pyrotechnicians compete unbound by conventional techniques, each expressing their own vision, to determine the 2026 champion. The theme is 'Superior in color, splendid in presentation,' and entries must include a 'title' and 'message' that are easy for elementary and middle school students to understand. In addition to the competition fireworks, star mine fireworks will also be launched.
