Summary
Wakasa Takahama fireworks fill the sky on August 1 above a four-kilometer stretch of coast from Wakasa-Wada Beach to Shiroyama, where 4,000 shells can be watched from the sand anywhere along the shore. Short 10-minute mini-shows also run on Saturdays from July 18 to August 22.
Overview
The long viewing stretch is the appeal: bring a sheet and settle into the sand. JR Wakasa-Wada Station is ten minutes on foot for the Wada side, while Wakasa-Takahama Station serves Shiroyama, Toriihama and Shirahama beaches in 15 minutes. Parking is paid for 1,500 cars. Food stalls line the beaches on show nights.
