The Mino Citizen Fireworks Festival opens over the Nagara River in Mino, Gifu, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 19:30 to 20:00 with about 1,000 shells — including blooms up to No. 10 size spreading across the river's width. The launch site was relocated in recent years to a stretch of bank where more people can watch, and the 2025 edition drew 26,000 visitors. Mino City Hall offers 200 free parking spaces nearby, with traffic controls in force around the venue.
Against the clear currents of the Nagara River, this civic summer tradition spreads fireworks across the full width of the water. Around 1,000 shells rise over roughly 30 minutes, the largest reaching No. 10 shell size and reflecting broad blooms on the river's surface. The launch site has been moved in recent years to an easier-to-view stretch of riverbank, widening the area from which the show is visible. JR Mino-Shi Station lies about 40 minutes on foot from the venue, so leave plenty of time if you come by rail. Drivers reach the site in about 5 minutes northeast of Mino IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway; 200 free spaces sit at Mino City Hall nearby. Traffic controls take effect around the venue on the day, so follow signage and arrive early.
