About 800 fireworks rise over the riverbed opposite the Roman Valley auto-campground in Nakatsugawa, Gifu, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Starmine bursts and a program centered on 3- and 4-inch shells send echoes rolling through the valley hills. Overview
This display marks summer in the Fukuoka district of Nakatsugawa City. Launched from the high ground across from the Roman Valley, the shells reverberate against the valley walls in a way lowland venues cannot match. The 30-minute program from 8 p.m. leans on starmine runs and 3- and 4-inch shells. Note that no food stalls are set up, so bring your own drinks and snacks. Take the Kita-Ena bus from JR Nakatsugawa Station toward Fuchikyo (about 25 minutes) to the Fukuoka General Affairs Office stop, a 5-minute walk away; three free parking areas near the venue hold about 300 cars in total.
