Aki Summer Festival Fireworks Festival: The many events held alongside the fireworks are also a must-see
On August 14 the Agi Summer Festival in Nakatsugawa, Gifu, closes with roughly 600 fireworks lighting the sky for 30 minutes from 20:00. The festival itself opens at 18:00 on the Agi Elementary School grounds with stalls, a children's mikoshi, bon dancing and taiko drumming.
The festival grounds lie a 15-minute walk from Agi Station on the Akechi Railway, and about 20 minutes by car from Ena Interchange on the Chuo Expressway. Free parking for 70 cars opens from 17:00 to 22:00 at the school and the Agi community center. The evening mixes community events with the finale of fireworks, which rise close enough that the sound carries real weight. Admission is free; bring cash for the food stalls and the bazaar.
