A fireworks display within a traditional festival held in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture. The grand festival of Kubohara Tsumekiri Jizo-son—said to have been carved by Kobo Daishi with his fingernails on a stone slab in a single night—has a tradition of over 360 years, held annually on August 16. Fireworks are dedicated in prayer for community safety and abundant harvests. In addition to set-piece fireworks, original fireworks by local residents appear, enlivening the venue.
