Held along the Maze River in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, this fireworks festival attracts approx. 20000 visitors each year. It is cherished by locals as an annual end-of-summer event. Featuring shakudama (large shells) rare in the Hida region, the large and beautiful fireworks spreading over 300 meters in diameter color the night sky. Approx. 1000 shells of spectacular fireworks are launched, and the roar echoing through the mountains is breathtaking. In case of stormy weather, the event will be postponed to the following week, the 20th (Sat).
