On 25 July, roughly 12,000 shells rise over the Kano River in central Numazu — the centrepiece of the Numazu Summer Festival, a tradition dating to 1948 and one of the Tokai region's leading urban fireworks events. The viewing stretch sits between Eitai, Onari and Ayumi bridges, keeping light and sound close at hand. Last year's festival as a whole drew about 330,000 visitors (including festival-goers beyond the fireworks).
