Summary

The Omaezaki Minato Summer Festival fireworks take place at Marine Park Omaezaki in Omaezaki City, Shizuoka, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, launching about 3,000 shells from 19:45 over 45 minutes. Set pieces and star mines rise from the park's breakwater toward the sea, and the lawn lets you watch while relaxing. The festival draws about 15,000 visitors, food stalls line the area, and parking is free for about 2,000 cars.

Overview

Organized by the Omaezaki City Tourism Association, the festival fireworks run 19:45–20:30 on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Marine Park Omaezaki, a seaside park in the port town of Omaezaki, Shizuoka. About 3,000 shells — set pieces, star mines and more — rise from the breakwater inside the park, and the event draws about 15,000 visitors each year, popular with tourists as well as locals. The lawn inside the park lets you watch from a relaxed, reclined position, and food stalls add to the festival feel. By car it is about 25 minutes from the Sagara-Makinohara IC on the Tomei Expressway, with about 2,000 free parking spaces. Paid seating is also provided — check the City of Omaezaki's official website for prices and other details.

Info for International Visitors

Best arrival time

Aim to arrive 30–45 minutes before the start. On the open lawn facing the sea, sheet-friendly spots start filling early. By car it is about 25 minutes from the Sagara-Makinohara IC on the Tomei Expressway, and with about 2,000 free spaces available, still allow extra time for festival-day traffic on the way home.

Best viewing spots

The lawn inside the park is the signature spot — you can lay out a sheet and watch at ease. As the shells rise from the breakwater toward the sea, a broad stretch of the lawn enjoys good sightlines.

With kids

The park's lawn is easy to move around with children, but near the sea keep them away from the water's edge and in sight. The stall rows are busy, so agree on a meeting point in case anyone gets separated.

Photography tips

Photos with phones and cameras are freely allowed. You can choose compositions to match the scene — the breakwater and sea in the foreground, or wide angles from the lawn. Set tripods where they will not block movement on the grass.

Payment

Paid seating is available. For prices and other details, check the City of Omaezaki's official website. Food stalls generally take cash, so have small bills and coins ready. Parking is free (about 2,000 spaces).
