Overview

Set on the water of Shimizu Port, this display uses two moored barges as launch sites, with roughly 10,000 shells opening across the evening sea in a one-hour show that brings the festival to its close. The festival itself begins Friday, July 31, filling the district with the Jirocho procession, the port's Kappore grand dance and yukata dancing; on fireworks day, food trucks join the waterfront. JR Shimizu Station is a 20-minute walk from the venue and Shin-Shimizu Station on the Shizutetsu line is 15 minutes. There is no parking, so come by train and allow extra time for the walk back, when crowds funnel toward the stations.
