Summary

On the first day of the 'Kurofune Festival' held annually in mid-May in Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, the 'Kurofune Festival Marine Fireworks Festival' takes place with Shimoda Port as the stage. This festival commemorates the arrival of Commodore Perry's fleet at the end of the Edo period and is known as an event where visitors can experience international exchange and historical culture. This fireworks display grandly marks its opening. The highlight is the 'marine star mine,' where fireworks are packed into drums and floated on the sea. The combination of light and sound reflected on the water's surface creates a magical scene. Furthermore, fireworks launched simultaneously from multiple points around the port captivate the audience with their scale and sense of presence. Paid special viewing seats are also available around the venue for comfortable viewing.
