Approximately 2,000 shells are launched with Himakajima in Minamichita Town, Aichi Prefecture as the backdrop. Himakajima is a small island with a circumference of 5.5 kilometers, and this festival, with about 250 years of history, is held to pray for maritime safety and a bountiful catch. The event also features 'Hōroku Nagashi,' where large unglazed plates are lit with fire and set adrift offshore, creating a magical summer tradition.
