A festival that has been held since the Edo period in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, and is known as the largest fireworks celebration in the Higashi-Mikawa region. On Friday, July 17, hand-held cylindrical fireworks (tezutsu hanabi), large cylinders, and scattered ball fireworks originating from Yoshida Shrine are set off within the shrine grounds. Tezutsu hanabi is a traditional firework unique to this region, where participants hold the cylinders in their hands as they erupt with fire. On Saturday, July 18, approximately 12,000 shells, including aerial fireworks, star mines, and water-based set-piece fireworks launched from barges on the river, light up the night sky along the Toyogawa riverbank. A photo contest is also held during the festival period.
