3rd Atsumi Peninsula Fireworks Festival

Summary

One of Japan's newer fireworks events—launched in 2024 on the Atsumi Peninsula in Tahara, Aichi, and reaching its third edition on October 10, 2026. Around the city gymnasium, roughly 4,000 shells fly across a generous 90 minutes from 19:00, unusually long for a regional show. Launch points sit close to spectators, so the physical punch of light and sound is the draw. A food-stall village opens from 15:00.

Overview

The venue is a 10-minute walk from Kō Station on the Toyohashi Railway's Atsumi line (or about 12 from Mikawa-Tahara), but note the railway's own warning: homeward crowds may make boarding at Mikawa-Tahara impossible, so plan to board at Kō instead. Paid viewing seats sell through Ticket Pia. Event-day road closures surround the site, and temporary lots (Central Park and elsewhere, fees varying by location) are expected to jam—arrive early or come by rail. The food-stall village runs 15:00–21:00 around the 19:00–20:30 program. Light rain proceeds; severe weather cancels. Paid seating has also been bundled into a JR Central optional tour plan, which is convenient if you are booking travel through JR. About 40,000 people attended the 2025 edition, and organizers repeat their advice to arrive early for the temporary lots.
