The Akiba Festival is held on a Sunday in mid-September each year within the precincts of Chiryu Shrine in Chiryu, Aichi Prefecture. During the day, young men from six town districts (Takara-cho, Yama-cho, Yamayashiki-cho, Nakashin-cho, Honmachi, and Nishi-cho) carry tama-bako boxes and parade energetically through their neighborhoods while singing nagamochi-uta songs. In the evening, they enter Chiryu Shrine in a shrine-entry procession, and a heroic display of tezutsu fireworks is performed.
