A festival held on the fourth Saturday of July every year in Ayabe City, Kyoto Prefecture, originating from a lantern-floating ancestral memorial tradition that began in the late Meiji era. Today, it is cherished as a vibrant summer festival combining the 'Peace Prayer Lantern Floating' ceremony, where approximately 10,000 lanterns are released onto the Yura River at once, and a fireworks display. The 'Ayabe Yosakoi Dance,' an adaptation of Kochi's Yosakoi dance, energizes the venue. The lantern floating begins at 19:30, followed by a roughly 40-minute fireworks display starting at 20:00, enveloping the entire Yura River riverbed in a fantastical atmosphere.
