The Tenjin Festival at Osaka Tenmangu Shrine in Osaka City is one of Japan's three great festivals, with a history spanning over 1,000 years. In 2026, the eve festival (Yomiya) will be held on July 24 (Yomiya Festival, Hokonagashi ritual, Shishimai parish procession), and the main festival (Honmiya) on July 25 (Honmiya Festival, spirit transfer, land procession, boat procession, dedication fireworks). The 'Dedication Fireworks' cap off this grand event, which draws 1.3 million visitors each year. The scene created by the bonfires of approximately 100 boats and roughly 3,000 fireworks shells illuminating the night sky is truly magical.
