Summary

'Hana Matsuri & Ayu Festival' held in Kato City, Hyogo Prefecture. As part of the Ayu Festival, Approx. 1000 shells are launched from 7:30 PM, boldly coloring the sky enveloped by the murmuring river and mountain stillness. 'Takimi Bridge,' close to the launch site, is a particularly recommended viewing spot and a popular local favorite. The Ayu Festival starts at 3 PM, featuring food stalls and a hands-on release of young ayu by local first graders. Also, from the morning, 'Hana Matsuri' is held at Goho-san Komyo-ji Temple. In addition to special viewings of the Important Cultural Property 'Bronze Seated Statue of Nyorai' and 'Japan's Largest Portrait of Master Shandao,' a sutra copying experience (participation fee 1000 yen, free for children) is also offered. Shuttle bus transportation is available between the two venues.
