Summary

A fireworks festival held annually on August 1 at Minabe-Nambu Bay in Wakayama Prefecture. This dedication fireworks festival has a history of over 300 years, held to express gratitude to Kashima Myojin for saving the Minabe area from the tsunami caused by the Great Hoei Earthquake in the Edo period. Approx. 2000 shells of brilliant fireworks are launched from about 1.5 km offshore from Minabe Beach, coloring the night sky.
