Overview

The Gobo City Fireworks Festival turns the Hidaka River embankment into a grandstand each summer, with about 40,000 visitors a year. On 22 August, roughly 3,000 shells go up between 20:00 and 21:00, led by successive star-mines. The viewing area runs along the embankment between the road fork and the municipal-road crossing near Tenda Bridge, with launches over the water. Free temporary parking (about 1,000 cars) is provided at Gobo City Hall and Gobo Elementary School, among other sites. On foot, Kishu Railway's Nishi-Gobo Station is 13 minutes away and JR Gobo Station about 25; food stalls line the venue on the night.
